Here is the sample for “describe something you don’t have now but would really like to own in the future” topic

• what it is

When it comes to accumulating all of the aspirations in one single list, it will undoubtedly be an extensive one. However, if I have to mention merely one thing that I would like to own in the future, it would be an SUV car, specifically Mahindra Thar.

• when you would like to (= want to / hope to) buy it

To tell you the truth, I am clueless when it comes to driving. So, I would first have to set my hands on it and learn the correct ways of driving a car. And then, considering that this car costs a bomb, I hope to own its keys and put it in my garage before turning 30.

• how long you have wanted to buy this

I have been longing to buy a Mahindra Thar since it launched in 2020. Out of all the things, what fascinates me the most about this automobile is its modernised and upgraded look.

• explain why you would like to buy this

Mahindra has turned this model into a more desirable and polished proposition this time around. Thus, it instantly tugged at my heartstrings. Also, thousands of buyers are going gaga over this car, which is quite apparent from its skyrocketed sales and the hype surrounding this model. In addition to this, the brand has given variations to choose from. So, we can get a car of our preference.

We all have a never-ending wish list of things that we want to buy, so do I. One item that has been on my wish list for a long time is a one-bedroom apartment of my own.

I hope to cross this item off my list by the time I turn 30. I know it sounds impossible but it’d be cool if I could do it. And the most important thing is that I have a long-term goal to pursue. Since I am an independent person, I have always wanted to move out of my parents’ house. As soon as I graduated college, I wanted to buy a small apartment. I’m currently looking for a condo a little further away from the city center. Despite the fact that it will take longer for me to travel to work, the price will be more reasonable and I will be able to afford it.

• explain why you would like to buy this

Having a flat of my own means a lot to me for several reasons. Firstly, I can decorate the house according to my own tastes and personality. Secondly, I can do whatever I want without interfering in my parents’ lives. I can invite my friends over for the weekend and I can throw a party anytime I want. Most importantly, I want to show my parents that I am a grown-up woman and that I can take good care of myself.

Vocabulary

  Eg: Her brother is a very independent person; he moved out of the house when he was only 20 and spent the next five years traveling around the world by himself.
• To move out of : To leave the place where you are living now.
  Eg: He will be moving out of his apartment at the end of the month.
• Condo: Short for condominium, a form of housing where a person owns the unit and then can either live in it or rent it out to others. It is different than an apartment, which is usually owned by a person or company that owns all the apartments in a building.
  Eg: The price for condos these days has really gone up.
• Despite the fact that: Even though.
  Eg: Despite the fact that he has already graduated from college, he still has no idea what he wants to do with his life.
• To be more reasonable: Related to price, it means that you will have an easier time affording it or paying for it with the money you have. If a price is unreasonable, it means that it is too expensive for you and you won’t buy it at that price.
  Eg: The housing prices are becoming more reasonable these days than they were 3 years ago.
• Means a lot to me: To talk about something being meaningful or important to you.
  Eg: It means a lot to me that you came to dinner with me on my birthday.
• To decorate:To put up decorations such as paintings, curtains, wall-hangings, art and other things in a home or apartment or office.
  Eg: People decorate their spaces with things they like.
• According to: In agreement or accord with – in this case, she will decorate her apartment based on her own tastes (what she likes) and her personality (with stuff that represents her).
  Eg: He will do his job according to his manager’s instructions.
• To interfere with: To get in the way of, to be in the middle of something or others.
  Eg: He doesn’t like it when his father interferes with his work by telling him what to do.
• To throw a party: To give or host a party, to be the person who invites others to the party and provides drinks and food.
  Eg: She is throwing a big party for her 50th birthday this Saturday.
• A grown-up woman: A mature or adult woman, not a kid. Used to express that you can be responsible and take care of yourself.
  Eg: She wanted to prove that she was a grown-up woman by purchasing a new condo all by herself.
