Sample Answer 1

We all have been part of a team for various reasons. On some occasions, we have been part of a team to work together on a group project. On other occasions, we played sports as a part of the team. Sometimes the experience we have working together is enriching and satisfying, whereas in some cases, there might be differences in opinion and even arguments. An instance where I worked as part of a team and had a wonderful experience was when I participated in a business event.

This event was called Bullionaire, and it was hosted by a school named Lakshmipat Singhania Academy, and several students had registered for different contests that were part of the business event. I was part of a team that comprised two other seniors from my school, and our team had registered for the event named ‘Plan a Joint Venture & Pitching’. The name of my other team members was Vedant and Saloni, and all of us were from the commerce stream.

The event in which our team was participating required us to formulate an idea for a startup and pitch the proposal to the judges, who were successful entrepreneurs. After the event commenced, we started brainstorming different ideas and products that would be popular among the present generation. After discussing various ideas and business models, we came up with the idea of a subscription-based personal care basket that would be home delivered to the customers. After we pitched our idea, we received a heartening response from the judges and even got a standing ovation from the other participating teams. We won the competition and our team was praised by both the host school and our own school students at the end of Bullionaire.

• Explain why you became a member of this team or explain what the purpose of the team was?

The team was assembled by one of the teachers from the commerce section of our school. Initially, I was apprehensive about working with the other team members since they were my seniors, and I was not acquainted with them. Eventually, after talking to them, I felt comfortable and was able to give my best performance.

Sample Answer 2

All of us, at one point in time, would have faced a situation where we had to be friendly with somebody we didn’t like. Such a situation generally arises when we are a part of a huge team. Something similar happened to me.

A few months back, in the office, I had to join a huge team to complete a big project. As the work demanded, I had to interact with everybody, including the person I didn’t like. I can write down plenty of reasons for not liking the vibes she spreads. First of all, she is quite younger than me, thus, thinks that she gets the liberty to create all of the problems. Being in a lower position, she tries to prove her point every time there is a discussion. This does not make her appear as somebody who is contributing but as someone bossy. Secondly, she is also irresponsible as most of the time she chooses to stay absent from important discussions. Even if she is there, she hardly pays attention. Despite this being a group project, I have to complete a major portion of the assigned tasks.

Since this project was extremely important for our company, we could not handle any type of defeat. Thus, I didn’t have a choice than to deal with her nuisances. Although I would have preferred to do everything alone, however, refusing to be a team’s part would have impacted my performance. Therefore, knowing her behaviour, I had to swallow my pride and remain patient. A lot of arguments and fights happened, but we managed to complete everything on time.

With this experience, I got to learn that people can work together, even if they get on each other’s nerves. All it requires is a bit of patience from one person and a lot of compromises to achieve a common objective.
