• Where is this country

It is rare to find an individual who does not like to travel nowadays. Travel has become such a common phenomenon that people often embark on solo vacations. Individuals and families travel to different places multiple times a year. I am not much of a traveller myself, but I have been to a few countries on vacation. Out of the countries, I have visited, I liked the United Kingdom the most. This country is located off the northwestern coast of the continental mainland of Europe. The United Kingdom consists of England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland.

• When did you visit it?

I visited the United Kingdom in September 2021. Although the chief purpose of the trip to the United Kingdom was not leisure, I did enjoy sightseeing and visiting the famous tourist points in cities like London, Glasgow and many others. I went to the United Kingdom because I was planning to study in the United Kingdom for my Master’s degree. I had a few academic institutes and colleges that I wanted to visit and inquired about the admission requirements, so I planned to visit a friend who resides in London. Both of us visited quite a few colleges and universities. My friend, Karan, also showed me most of London’s landmarks and tourist attractions and some neighbouring cities.

• What were the interesting things about this country

There were numerous places of interest on my trip to the United Kingdom. Initially, my friend and I visited museums and historical sites near London. I learned quite a lot about the history of the United Kingdom and the different monarchs who have lived there. The United Kingdom had colonies, including my own country India. However, their perspective of history is quite different from the countries they colonized. Other places of interest, like the Tower of London, which is a World Heritage Site, piqued my interest. Places like these keep the rich history of the United Kingdom alive.

I suppose I should begin by highlighting what this country is. In actual fact, the countries that I have visited so far can be counted on the fingers of one hand. Among those, India is the one that truly amazed me by many factors. India has a very long history, the country is very big and has the second largest population in the world. I guess this is why there are so much to see. For me, one of the most interesting places in India is The Ganges River, which is well – known as the longest and holiest river in India. While most rivers around the world are for recreation or sports, the Ganges has many other functions. As the Indians believe that the river is holy, people come here to pray and wash themselves in its water. In addition, the river also has thousands of people who wash their clothes by beating them on rocks. The other thing that often impresses tourists is the unique architecture of Hindu temples all over India, and visitors can enter at any time. The temples are usually immense and have antique statutes that are thousands of years old. Visitors are also welcome to eat and sleep in the temples at night if they have no place to go. After all, I have to say that paying this beautiful country the second visit in the future is one of the prioritized items on my bucket list.
