Sample Answer 1
About a year ago, I needed to travel to another country where the weather was colder than where I reside. I was going to stay there for about a week or so as I was attending a seminar about my work. When I looked it up online to see what the weather was in the town I would be visiting, I was quite dumbfounded.
- what it is
- when and where you bought it
- why you bought it
I realized that I didn’t have any suitable attire for such cold weather, so I decided that I would buy a warm and fuzzy coat to wear while I was there. I couldn’t find anything locally because the weather here is so lovely and friendly all year round that there is no need to wear a coat or jacket. As a result, I had to buy it online. I’m glad I did because it was cold and raining when I landed at the airport and I was elated that I had something comfortable to wear. I wore that warm coat daily while I was there, whenever I had to go out.
- and explain why you don’t use it often.
But apart from the week I spent at that place, I’ve never worn it as in this climate, it is redundant. Consequently, it’s been hanging in my wardrobe since I got back for more than a year. I’m sure it’ll be helpful again if I visit another cold place in the future, but it’s not something I often use, nor am I likely to. It’s a shame because it’s excellent and I would really appreciate it if I could lend it to someone who could utilize it appropriately.

- what it is
I’m going to talk about an iPad that I bought a few years back.
- when and where you bought it
- why you bought it
In my third year at university, I received a grant amount for good academic performance, which was worth about 700 dollars. I had been curious about the iPad, because I had never had a chance to use one. So I decided, quite impulsively, that I would buy one.
I imagined there would be so many things that I could do with this device, like writing homework, reading books, chatting with friends and playing games. But later I found out that it wasn’t as convenient as I thought. Though already quite small in size, it is still too heavy to carry for a long time. And it can’t replace a computer as it doesn’t have a real keyboard.
- and explain why you don’t use it often.
Once the novelty wore off, I just left my iPad sitting around. In hindsight, that 700 dollars should have been spent on a course or something like that!
