Sample Essay
The tourism industry is one of the most crucial sectors of any economy. In this day and age, touristry is a staple source of income for most developing countries. With the ease and accessibility of travel that people enjoy these days, tourism has become quite popular and even commonplace. However, there is a debate on whether such an occurrence is entirely favourable or the drawbacks outweigh the benefits. In the following paragraphs, I will elaborate on the topic from both perspectives.
The tourism industry is considered to be a valuable asset for the economy of a nation. One of the primary reasons for tourism being so lucrative is its ability to uplift several other sectors of the economy along with itself. Hospitality, transportation, leisure are some of the industries that are greatly benefitted by the development of tourism. Furthermore, relaxing travel laws and facilitating the flow of foreign nationals also helps in maintaining cordial relations among countries.
Nevertheless, there are various limitations that come along with foreigners visiting the country. Firstly, tourists and foreign nationals might be unaware of the social norms and conventions of their visiting country. This often leads to complications and creates a certain distance between the natives and the visitors. Additionally, tourists often mistreat the places that they visit by littering and polluting. There have also been several cases of tourists intentionally desecrating religious and heritage sites that are popular tourist attractions.
Finally, there are advantages and disadvantages to every phenomenon and so is the case with the growth of tourism. However, in my opinion, the benefits tend to outweigh the limitations.
