Sample Essay
Excessive weight is a very striking issue among the general population and it is becoming more and more prevalent among the masses lately. Consequently, more and more people becoming overweight puts pressure on the government’s health care system due to the rising health issues faced by the general public. Therefore, focusing on the physical education of school students and the addition of more physical training programs in the school curriculum is a common solution given by the people. So, this popular solution can be an effective way to deal with overweightedness in my opinion.
Individuals who are overweight are not only huddled by problems like fatigue, joint pains, shortness of breath, etc., but they are also more prone to ailments such as diabetes, heart diseases, asthma, and more. Hence, if people are accustomed to following a physically demanding routine from an early age, they are less likely to become overweight. This is why the introduction of more physical education classes and programs in the school curriculum will be beneficial in the long run.
The benefits of an upswing in both the quantity and quality of physical education in the school curriculum are not only limited to restraining the number of overweight people and children. It also helps people to understand the importance of balancing mental and physical work at a young age. When people maintain a healthy balance between food and daily exercise, their bodies and mind become more productive. As a result, each individual positively affects society.
Although it can be argued that excessive weight affects adults and older individuals more than children and so habits formed during school years are less likely to be maintained in the future. But, initial experiences significantly determine how a person will grow and make choices later on in life. Therefore, making school children more physically active will prove to be advantageous in the long run.
In conclusion, I would like to mention that the kind of lifestyle a person leads and is familiar with plays a vital role in whether the person is obese or not. Developing a good routine and forming beneficial habits at a young age is important to lead a physically fit life and having more physical education lessons and training at the school level will be effective in attaining the same for future generations.
Band 9 Sample Essay
Being overweight has recently become a conspicuous concern among the public. As a result, there’s a growing trend of obese children in developing countries, which has put a strain on the government’s health care system. Therefore, some people emphasize that incorporating more physical training programs into the curriculum of school children is crucial to resolving these concerns. This, in my opinion, is the most effective strategy to address deteriorating public health and obesity.
To begin with, obese children not only experience lethargy, fatigue, depression, and exhaustion as a result of their weight, but they are also more susceptible to developing adult-onset diseases such as diabetes and asthma. As a result, if they start a physically rigorous regimen as early as childhood, they will be able to maintain good health far into their dotage. In order to address the challenges around obesity and weight disorders, children should participate in physical activities and sports. Schools can incorporate sports into the children’s curriculum as they’re more likely to adhere to what is being taught in the classroom. Teachers can also prioritize physical education to develop the habit of maintaining a healthy lifestyle in students from the start, enabling them to stay fit and fine.
Furthermore, implementing physical education in schools will lead to children developing an interest in sports, which will spread to other family members, resulting in a broader impact. Moreover, parents engaging in sports activities with their children motivates the little ones, resulting in both parents and children remaining in shape. Thus, it is unquestionably a natural and long-term approach to public health improvement.
In contrast, it is argued that obesity affects children in their adulthood and physical activities/ exercise learned in school are less likely to be followed in their future. However, childhood experiences significantly impact how a person grows and makes decisions later in life. As a result, encouraging students to participate in physical education will undoubtedly pay off in the long run.
To sum up, I believe that imparting physical education in classes, encouraging children to follow a healthy eating lifestyle, and participating in extracurricular sports activities from an early age are effective ways to combat obesity problems and reduce the government’s contribution to the health sector.
