Band 7 Sample Answer For Writing Task 1 Question – Process of Making Soft Cheese
The provided process diagram details the production of soft cheese using a combination of milk and water. It becomes evident that the cheese-making process consists of five straightforward steps, commencing with mixing and concluding with cooling.
First, a specified quantity of water and milk is combined in the mixer for thorough mixing. Then, the mixture is transferred to the cooler, where it is left at a temperature of 5 degrees Celsius for an 8-hour duration to facilitate the cooling process. Once this step is completed, salt is given into the mixture to initiate the fermentation process.
The fermentation process takes place over a 2-hour period at a temperature of 35 degrees Celsius. In the following phase, the semi-liquid substance undergoes an 8-hour evaporation process at 100 degrees Celsius. After that, an 8-hour cooling process at 5 degrees Celsius follows to further thicken the semi-liquid substance. Positioned at the bottom is a filtration system designed to separate wastewater, while the soft cheese is filtered out through the top outlet.

Band 8 Sample Answer For Writing Task 1 Question – Process of Making Soft Cheese
The accompanying process diagram illustrates how milk and water are used to make soft cheese. The complete diagram makes it evident that there are five simple steps involved in making cheese, starting with mixing and concluding with cooling.
Initially, a mixer is used to blend together milk and water. After that, the mixture is refrigerated at 5°C for two hours. After cooling, the mixture is transferred to a fermentation chamber, where it will ferment for the following two hours at 35°C. But before fermentation occurs, salt is added to the cooled mixture. Following that, the fermented mixture is then evaporated at 100°C for eight hours. Then, steam is released from the building through a vent. After that, the mixture is moved to cool. This is done at 5 °C for eight hours.
The mixture thickens greatly after cooling. An outlet filters cheese out of the top container, while a filter filters water out of the bottom container. All things considered, it is evident that producing soft cheese is an extremely challenging procedure involving multiple steps. That being said, the end product is a very soft and delicious cheese.

Unlock Answer
The diagram illustrates the intricate process of producing soft cheese, which spans more than twenty hours and involves milk and water as the main ingredients.
Overall, making soft cheese is a detailed procedure that includes careful steps of heating, cooling, fermenting, and filtering. This elaborate process, taking almost a full day, transforms a simple mixture of milk and water into a delicious dairy product.
In the initial phases, a blend of water and milk serves as the basis for cheese production. This mixture is thoroughly mixed and subsequently chilled for two hours at a temperature of five degrees Celsius, preparing it for fermentation. Following this chilling period, salt is added, initiating a two-hour fermentation process at a precise thirty-five degrees Celsius.
Moving on to the final stages, the fermented mixture undergoes vaporization at a temperature of one hundred degrees Celsius. This eight-hour process thickens the liquid, turning it into a semi-solid solution. After evaporation, the semi-solid solution is chilled again at five degrees Celsius for eight hours. As the mixture solidifies further, it undergoes filtration, resulting in the extraction of soft cheese. The by-product of this process, waste water, is then drained off.
